2015 Year in Review

As 2015 comes to a close we reflect on the wonderful experiences, adventures, and blessings of the year.  We enjoyed our second year in Virginia, which we now can more lovingly call "home".  We had multiple visits from family--Aunt Brooke, Aunt Trissa and family, Aunt Jill and family, Nana and Grandpa.  And we had our own family adventures--Idaho, Utah, South Carolina, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and more!

Talia cares for the children and leads compassionate service efforts in our church congregation.  Casey works close by our home and has served with our congregation's young men organization and as the Bishop's secretary.

The kids have been involved in various activities to help them learn and grow.  Zion loves drama.  She had an prominent role as Lumiere in her school's musical production of Beauty and Beast in March, and she'll play Arielle in The Little Mermaid at the end of next school year.  She also enjoyed playing softball, swimming on the swim team, and participating in activity days.  Hyrum swam on swim team for the first time this year and grew tremendously in overcoming his anxiety over getting in the water.  He also played soccer and basketball and earned his Wolf rank in Cub Scouts.  He loves to go on bike rides.  Ezra enjoys working in the garden with his dad and going on bike rides.  He also played soccer and baseball for the first time.  He has a lot of energy and is learning to focus it. Selah is a sweet, happy four-year old.  She attends pre-school and helps her mom around the house.  Sweet Asher was born in September.  He is a good baby, typically sleeping eight hours or more at night!  He coos and smiles, and has just begun to laugh.  His older siblings love him, and all of them are good helpers with him, each with their own specialty.  Zion changes diapers, Hyrum puts him to sleep, Ezra feeds and burps him, and Selah entertains him.  We love having a new baby in the home and recognize it as a blessing.

We are grateful for the blessings in our lives and recognize the Source from which they come.  At this time of year we especially recognize the Gift given to us by our Father in Heaven.  He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to live and die for us, that we could overcome our natures, become better people, and become clean to return to His presence.

Merry Christmas!  Love, the Deccios
